TRLabs creates innovative technologies and trains students to enhance ICT expertise and improve Canada's global competitiveness. Five labs across the prairie provinces employ university professors, graduate students, industrial partners, and staff researchers.

Technology

A Core Research Program is generated from industry/university collaboration. Industry seasons the research program by setting direction and priorities, university cooks it with professor/student research activity, and government invests with a strategic recipe in mind – competitive economic development.

TRLabs' research program is continually generating new technologies and intellectual property. All TRLabs partners share these outputs on a non-exclusive basis. TRLabs holds the intellectual property rights, and non-exclusive rights are assigned to the various partners according to their agreements with the consortium.

People

The collaborative research environment provides a unique training experience for students and representatives from industry partner organizations. By working together with university professors and staff researchers on challenging, thought-provoking projects, they develop and enhance the knowledge and skills needed to succeed. TRLabs researchers contribute toward advancing knowledge in the field of information and communications technologies.

The Future

TRLabs hosts several conferences and workshops in its role as a knowledge transfer organization, providing a perspective on and window into the future. These events provide a forum for participants to obtain in-depth knowledge in specific areas, network and build enterprise partnerships, and exchange ideas. They also provide TRLabs with fodder for development of direction in its research activity.
